About Us

PO Siam Thai Massage is dedicated to the history and benefits of Thai Massage.

Our goal is to have each of our clients experience all the relief and relaxation that comes with traditional Thai massage.

History

The founder of Thai massage and medicine is said to have been Shivago Komarpaj who is said in the Pāli Buddhist Canon to have been the Buddha’s physician over 2,500 years ago. In fact, the history of Thai massage is more complex than this legend of a single founder would suggest.

Thai massage, like TTM more generally, is a combination of influences from Indian, Chinese, Southeast Asian cultural spheres and traditions of medicine, and the art as it is practiced today is likely to be the product of a 19th-century synthesis of various healing traditions from all over the kingdom.

Even today, there is considerable variation from region to region across Thailand, and no single routine or theoretical framework that is universally accepted among healers.

Benefits of Thai Massage

The benefits of Thai massage are many, including relief from multiple ailments ranging from asthma and migraines to sprains, bruises, and anxiety.

Further benefits include the relief of physical and emotional tension, ameliorated sleep, improved flexibility, a greater awareness of body and mind, and a release of blocked energy.

While Swedish massage permits you to zone out and relax, the benefits of Thai massage force you to become more engaged and energized. This holistic approach promotes balance and focus not only of your body, but also your mind.
